O Instituto do Meio Ambiente e dos Recursos Hídricos do Distrito Federal (Ibram), por meio da comissão gestora da Agenda Ambiental na Administração Pública (A3P) firmou parceria com a Companhia de Saneamento Ambiental do DF (Caesb) no projeto Biguá, de reaproveitamento de óleo de cozinha. Com isso, o edifício sede do Instituto passará a ser mais um ponto de coleta desse programa em Brasília.
O Projeto Biguá consiste em reutilizar o óleo de fritura para a produção de sabão em barra evitando assim, que haja o descarte desse resíduo na rede de água e esgoto, e acarretando danos ao meio ambiente, a exemplo da poluição dos corpos hídricos. Existente desde 2007, as ações do programa contam com o apoio de instituições como o Sindicato de Hotéis, Bares, Restaurantes e Similares (Sindhobar) e da Secretaria de Obras nas doações de óleo.
No Ibram, haverá um tonel de coleta no hall de entrada do edifício sede para que as pessoas possam trazer de casa, o óleo de cozinha usado. Serão aceitas doações tanto dos servidores do órgão quanto da comunidade. A Caesb é a responsável por fazer o recolhimento dos vasilhames de coleta nos pontos de apoio, além da filtragem, classificação e doação dos resíduos para a produção de sabão. O programa prevê para 2011 iniciar a transformação em biodiesel.
O Projeto Biguá contempla ainda o lado social, uma vez que os resíduos são doados para entidades de comunidades carentes cadastradas, que fazem a fabricação dos sabões, gerando emprego e renda.
